Rasmus Højlund Mocks Aston Villa Fans After They Abuse Him During Game, Douglas Luiz Wasn’t Happy
Rasmus Hojlund, a Manchester United forward, had a heated altercation with Douglas Luiz during his team’s 2-1 victory over Aston Villa.
Hojlund scored the opening goal in the first half, finding space in the box and blasting in from close range after Harry Maguire’s header.
After joining United for £75 million from Atalanta last summer, the Dane has now scored in five consecutive appearances across all competitions.
Villa got their footing in the second half, with Douglas Luiz tying the game on 67 minutes.
Unai Emery’s team were favourites at the time, but substitute Scott McTominay scored a late header to secure all three points for United.
Following the goal, manager Erik ten Hag replaced Hojlund, who was jeered by the Aston Villa fans as he walked off the pitch.
In response, the 21-year-old raised both hands in a ‘2-1’ motion to the Villans fans before indicating for them to calm down.
That did not impress Luiz, who challenged Hojlund as he approached the dugout. The Brazilian then seized the United forward’s jersey.
But the Dane had the final laugh, as United moved to within five points of their fifth-place rivals and six points of fourth-place Tottenham after 24 games.
Following the game, winning goalscorer McTominay told Sky Sports: “It was a credit to the lads at the back who were immense, especially Harry and Raphael.” [It was] an outstanding performance that resulted in a well-deserved victory.
“I believe that as long as I am fit and healthy, I can go on the pitch and perform. I’m not taking it personally that I’m not playing at the moment; I simply want to come on and do my best for this club, as I always have.
“Full credit to the boys attacking-wise as well, we created some good chances which I thought went unnoticed.”
