Premier League manager has been tipped to replace Erik ten Hag at Manchester United this afternoon
Erik ten Hag will be fired “in the next few months,” according to Roy Keane.
The illustrious former midfield player thinks the Dutchman’s departure before the 2023–24 season ends is a given.
Article continues below the video Keane was speaking following United’s FA Cup third-round victory over Wigan on Monday, 2-0.
What was said by Keane?
According to Keane, “the manager there mentions the ‘project,’ which probably means he’ll be gone in the next few months.”
“That hated word, project.” No, I haven’t watched it in a few months, and I didn’t see it tonight with United either.
“Yet again, they advance to the next round and it’s a simple draw there as well, but you need to play at a higher level. And you always hope for more, given the opportunities they had tonight.
After presiding over the team’s worst start to a season in more than 30 years, Ten Hag is very much in danger of losing his job at Manchester United.
United is now in seventh place in the Premier League and has already lost both the League Cup and Europe.
Ten Hag’s position is now much more precarious due to Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s acquisition of a minority investment in the club, which also gives him power over football-related affairs.
In the coming weeks, Ratcliffe’s new role will be formally confirmed, after which he will be able to begin making choices on the coaching staff and the transfer market.
It’s commonly anticipated that Ten Hag will lose his job and be replaced as manager.
When that decision is made—during the current season or at the end of the campaign—is the key question.
Keane thinks Ten Hag will be fired before the end of the season.
Sunday’s Premier League encounter between United and Tottenham at Old Trafford is a must-win.
