Premier League captain escapes death after collapsing on the field this evening and has been rushed to the hospital

The Bournemouth vs. Luton Town game took a worrying turn when Luton captain Tom Lockyer passed out on the field for the second time this year. The game was then stopped.

The first time this happened, it was in May during the Championship play-off final. Lockyer got sick and had to be carried off at Wembley on a bed. It was a sad repeat of history at the Vitality Stadium in the second half of the Premier League match.

Because of how serious the situation was, Rob Edwards, the boss of Luton Town, rushed onto the pitch to help Lockyer right away. As quickly as possible, doctors were sent to the scene of the accident. The match was then stopped to put players’ safety first.

The scary number of times these kinds of things happen shows how important it is for professional sports to have thorough medical exams and safety measures to protect the players’ health and safety on the pitch.
