Arsenal may consider disrupting Liverpool’s efforts to sign Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi this summer, according to journalist David Lynch. The Gunners are actively seeking to bolster their midfield during the current transfer window and have been linked to several potential signings.

Earlier in the transfer window, Arsenal was reportedly interested in players like Douglas Luiz, Amadou Onana, and Bruno Guimaraes. However, with Guimaraes now at Juventus and Onana having joined Aston Villa, Zubimendi emerged as a potential target for Arsenal. Despite this, Arsenal shifted their attention to Zubimendi’s teammate, Mikel Merino, with whom they have already agreed on personal terms and are negotiating with Real Sociedad.

In parallel, Liverpool has expressed interest in securing Zubimendi to strengthen their midfield. Lynch, speaking on his YouTube channel, suggested that other clubs might try to interfere with Liverpool’s plans, with Arsenal potentially being one of them if they revisit their interest. Nevertheless, he emphasized that Arsenal currently appears to be prioritizing other midfield options.

Zubimendi’s contract includes a £51 million release clause, which would require a significant financial commitment from Arsenal should they choose to pursue the Spanish international. As the transfer window progresses, it remains uncertain whether Arsenal will make a formal move to acquire Zubimendi.
