Napoli Star Victor Osimhen has already confirmed transfer decision as Chelsea links gather pace, He has made a statement this evening regarding his move to Chelsea

Enzo Maresca is reportedly eyeing a deal for Victor Osimhen from Portsmouth to strengthen his team for the upcoming season. Chelsea has had a longstanding interest in the Napoli forward, who has a £110 million release clause in his contract signed just over six months ago. If Osimhen is allowed to leave this summer, Napoli expects to receive the full amount stipulated in the release clause.

There have been speculations that Chelsea might leverage Romelu Lukaku’s transfer value to negotiate a lower fee for Osimhen. Initially, the Blues decided not to pursue the Nigerian striker, but recent reports indicate they are now intensifying their efforts to sign him.

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) could pose a significant challenge to Chelsea’s ambitions. According to Fabrizio Romano, negotiations between PSG and Osimhen’s representatives are progressing well, and the player is keen to join the French club if a deal can be finalized.

Osimhen himself hinted earlier this year that he might be open to a move to Stamford Bridge. Speaking to CBS Sports in January during the Africa Cup of Nations, he said, “At the end of the season, I have made up my mind. Since the beginning, I have made my own decisions and am doing well in my career. I already know what I want to achieve with my life.”

He further added, “Although things didn’t go as planned initially, I have a clear plan and know my next steps. For now, I want to ensure the season ends well, spend some time with my son, and then make the decision I’ve already decided upon.”

Napoli manager Antonio Conte, earlier in the offseason, acknowledged the likelihood of Osimhen’s departure this summer. “I am aware of Osimhen’s current situation,” Conte stated. “Contracts are in place, and this scenario is unique. All I can do is provide support. He is a top-level player, but discussing this with him is not possible due to the existing agreements I am fully aware of.”

The upcoming transfer window promises to be intriguing as Chelsea and PSG vie for the signature of one of Europe’s most promising strikers.
