After nine seasons, Anthony Martial has confirmed leaving Manchester United.

Originally paid an initial £36 million from AS Monaco in 2015, Martial has scored 90 goals in 317 appearances.

But injuries and inconsistency have dogged his performance at Old Trafford, which finally causes United to reject to extend him a new contract.

Martial will thus be leaving on a free transfer following the end of his contract in addition to Raphael Varane and Brandon Williams.

After United’s last home game of the season, he bid farewell to supporters and missed the FA Cup final success against Manchester City.

He wrote a long message on Monday night declaring his leaving and thanked colleagues and staff as well as the supporters.

Martial stated in addressing the message to United supporters on Instagram: “I write to you now to bid farewell with tremendous feeling. Nine amazing years with the club have come to pass, and now is the moment to start a fresh chapter in my career.

“I have had great honor wearing this shirt and playing in front of you, the finest supporters in the world since I joined in 2015!

“You have been an unflinching support, through the good times and the trying. “For me, your enthusiasm and allegiance have been a continual inspiration.

“I would want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you have done for me. Memories etched in my heart always will be your music, your support, and your love of the club.

“I would also want to thank all of my team-mates, technical staff, and every club member I have come across throughout my nine years here. It makes me glad to have been able to share with you these encounters.

“Manchester United will always hold great emotional value. This team has changed my career and presented a fantastic chance for me to perform before you. I’m departing to face fresh challenges; I will always be a Red Devil and I will keep passionately following the club’s performance.
