“Manchester United will have to pay for our loose to Sporting CP yesterday in the premier League” Furious Pep Guardiola sends warning message to Manchester United incoming manager Amorim after Defeat in the champions league
Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, told Ruben Amorim that after taking over at Manchester United, he would be unable to defeat him again in the Champions League this season.
Amorim’s Sporting rallied from behind to beat City 4-1 in the Champions League. Phil Foden put City ahead after only five minutes, but a hat-trick from Viktor Gyokeres and a goal from Maxi Araujo gave Lisbon the win.
The Portuguese club’s success puts them closer to qualifying for the European knockout rounds. They are second in the Champions League’s league phase, but other clubs may leapfrog them with wins on Wednesday, with the top eight teams advancing directly to the round of 16.
However, by the next round, Amorim will have advanced to the Premier League. He will take over as Manchester United manager on November 11, and Guardiola was keen to remind him that the two Manchester teams have distinct goals this season.
