UEFA decides on excluding Man Utd, Man City from Europa League, UCL

According UK Times, UEFA will let Manchester United and Manchester City participate in the same European events as their sister clubs this season.

With certain limitations attached, UEFA’s Club Financial Control Board (CFCB) is set to render the decision on Monday.

The present regulations state that no team can participate in the same tournament as another team with joint ownership.

Along with Manchester United, who he also has a minority interest in, Sir Jim Ratcliffe owns Ligue 1 team Nice, who qualified for the Europa League this season.

Along with Manchester City, Girona, a City Football Group member, placed third in LaLiga this season, earning Champions League eligibility.

As long as Nice and Girona are run under a “blind trust,” however UEFA will let both Manchester sides play with their sister clubs in Europe next season.
