Pep Guardiola answers to Wayne Rooney’s comments on being a Manchester City coach.
Pep Guardiola has responded to Wayne Rooney’s recent comments regarding his desire to be Manchester City’s assistant coach if offered the position.
During a recent episode of Stick To Football, Rooney stated that he would be open to joining Guardiola’s coaching staff at City.
Now, the Spaniard has commented on what the former Manchester United striker said.

Guardiola responded to Rooney’s statements about being open to a potential coaching post at the Etihad Stadium during Friday’s press conference.
He said, “He can visit at any moment and is welcome. Of course, he is vital to our city, but he is a Red Devil, and he is United, but it is also beneficial to all of us.
More Man City stories: “Wayne Rooney has been one of the greatest in this country of all time, so if he makes compliments for all of us, it’s nice.” That is what he stated after labouring for so many years. He knows. He was present with United.
“He won the Premier League once, Wayne Rooney? I do not think so. He won a lot. That suggests he understands how difficult it is to be there, and why.
Rooney’s willingness to join City’s coaching squad demonstrates how much he loves and admires Guardiola’s work there.
With so much success at United throughout his playing career, it’s clear that Rooney understands what it takes to compete at the highest level.
However, given that he was fired from his previous managerial position at Birmingham City after only 15 games, winning only two of them, we doubt that the former England captain would be a significant addition to Guardiola’s coaching team.
