Manchester City has just signed £50m influential superstar to replace Kelvin Phillips if he leaves to Juventus on Loan
Opinion: Guardiola could get a big title boost by getting a deal for a “influential” £50 million star from Man City.
Joao Palhinha could give Manchester City a big boost in their title hopes if they can get him in January.
With 19 league games played, Pep Guardiola’s team has let in 21 goals, more than Liverpool (18) and Arsenal (20). They have also only been able to keep five clean sheets.
This shows that the Citizens have had trouble keeping goals out this season, which could cost them the chance to make history by becoming the first team to win four straight Premier League titles.
But now that January is here, we think that signing Palhinha could help City fix this problem and give them a chance to win the title.
Palhinha should be signed by City this month.
It was said last month that City are planning to pay £50 million to get the Fulham player during the winter transfer window.
The Portuguese player was bought by the west London club from Sporting CP for £20 million during the summer transfer window of 2022.
In the 60 games since then, the 28-year-old has played for his present team and scored six goals.
Palhinha has shown what a great defensive player he is, even though he has only been in England for 18 months.
One example is that during the last Premier League season, the defender won 83 tackles, which was a lot more than any other player in the league.
Palhinha has continued his strong start to the new season; he now has the most stops and interceptions in the league, a total of 121.
The Fulham star was recently called a “influential” player by Jamie Redknapp. This makes sense.
This also shows how important the midfielder could be for City if he can help them stop giving up so many goals like they have been doing so far this season.
Taking all of this into account, we think that getting Palhinha on a transfer in January could be a great idea for City, especially if Kalvin Phillips leaves the Etihad Stadium this month.
