“Man Utd defence and midfielde have been mediocre at best this season and I blame a lot of it on Erik Tan Hag’s tactics wanting the team to play out from the back it’s not nice football”-Wayne Rooney Slams Erig Ten Hag after Manchester United beat Everton
Wayne Rooney issued a warning to Casemiro after Manchester United’s 2-0 victory over Everton on Saturday.
Erik ten Hag’s team secured three points with two first-half penalties won by Alejandro Garnacho and converted by Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford, leaving them sixth in the Premier League but three points behind Tottenham.
Everton started strongly at Old Trafford and had chances to grab the lead, but Casemiro gave a shaky display in the heart of the United midfield.
And Rooney believes United’s current approach exposes the Brazil international and gives him too much territory to cover.
‘I felt there was too much room between the defence line and the forward players’, Rooney told TNT Sports.
‘Casemiro needs to work hard to maintain his position in the middle of the pitch.
‘Against a better team than Everton today, I believe they could have issues.
‘They deserved to win because they have match-winners; I believe Rashford is a match-winner, Bruno is always creative, and Garnacho, as we saw tonight, generated two goals.
‘They deserved to win, but they can absolutely improve on their performance today.

Rooney also lauded Garnacho’s performance against Everton, believing the 19-year-old is United’s finest player this season.
‘I believe Garnacho was the driving force behind today’s events. “He was certainly the best player on the pitch,” Rooney added.
‘I think his work rate off the ball is great; he isn’t hesitant to put in the effort. He will make mistakes; he is also a young player; he will continue to make mistakes since he is still learning.
‘But what he has is a burning desire, which any fan wants to see in any player. I’ve been quite impressed with him this season, and I believe he’ll be a special talent going forward.
‘I believe his numbers, productivity, goals, and assists can improve.
‘He is capable of doing so, and I believe we will see improved figures from him in the coming years.
‘But he’s still young and leaning; he’s definitely Manchester United’s finest player this season.’
