Man City Manager Pep Guardiola has delivered SAD news for Erling Haaland News this evening after he did not travel to wembley with the squad
City are hoping to rebound from their Champions League setback to Real Madrid in midweek, which saw the reigning champions lose on penalties despite dominating the second leg on the night.
They have the opportunity to go to the FA Cup final as they attempt to complete a double this season, but they will be without their primary player, who has scored 31 goals thus far.
Haaland was one of many players forced to leave the game versus Madrid due to injury, and he was replaced at the 90-minute mark by Julian Alvarez, who played the last 30 minutes plus penalties.
“They wanted me to go out,” Guardiola said of Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne, and Manuel Akanki. ‘They couldn’t continue.’
City’s Akanji and De Bruyne have begun the game after returning from injuries, although Haaland may face a prolonged absence.
‘He’s hurt,’ Guardiola stated of his striker before the game. ‘I don’t believe it’s much, but he is unable to play today.’
When asked whether he would be fit to play against Brighton in midweek, he said, “I’m not sure.”
Haaland missed several weeks for City earlier this season, returning in January after a foot ailment forced him to miss the Christmas season, including the Club World Cup.
He is now dealing with a muscular issue and will have to watch his team attempt to reach another Wembley final from the stands in London.
