Legendary football manager Sir Alex Ferguson has sent shockwaves through the football world with his unexpected announcement of a return to the Premier League Club
The fact that one of Sir Alex Ferguson’s criminally underappreciated acquisitions has “still” not been admitted into the Premier League Hall of Fame has left Manchester United supporters perplexed.
2013 saw Sir Alex Ferguson leave Old Trafford after leading Manchester United to their final Premier League championship at the conclusion of the 2012–13 campaign.
At Old Trafford, the 82-year-old Scotsman oversaw a team that included Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Cristiano Ronaldo, Eric Cantona, and Ryan Giggs.
One of the greatest managers of all time, Ferguson was inducted as the first management member of the Premier League Hall of Fame in 2023.
The Scot joined the great former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger in the Hall of Fame. Ferguson and Wenger had a famous rivalry throughout the Premier League era.
The Hall of Fame has also accepted deserving members of the United team, such as Eric Cantona, Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, Roy Keane, and David Beckham.
Even though Ferguson brought the best players in the world to Old Trafford, he is famed for having only managed four world-class players during his illustrious tenure.
Although Ferguson praised just four elite players, he also stated that just one previous player would be a “certainty” in his all-time starting lineup.
Legend of Man Utd left out of the Hall of Fame
Ashley Cole, the legendary player for Chelsea, was inducted into the Hall of Fame on Monday, according to a statement released by the Premier League’s official website.
Three players have been inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame for the class of 2024, including Ashley Cole, who had a successful career with both Chelsea and Arsenal.
The public will select the two more inductees into the Hall of Fame, and supporters may vote for their favourites on the official Premier League website.
The Premier League will reveal the poll winners on April 22. Voting for the two more entrants will end on April 8 at 12 p.m. UK time.
The public poll will select five Manchester United legends, including triple winner Andy Cole and former England midfielder Michael Carrick.
Alongside their former United teammate, Nemanja Vidic and fellow veteran Edwin van der Sar made the shortlist, as did Sky Sports analyst Gary Neville.
The Hall of Fame shortlist included former Liverpool striker Michael Owen, who Sir Alex Ferguson recruited to Old Trafford.
Nevertheless, incensed supporters couldn’t understand why United great Denis Irwin wasn’t selected for the Hall of Fame before Cole.
Man Utd supporters go crazy over Denis Irwin’s rejection On the social media site X, formerly known as Twitter, United supporters expressed their frustration at Denis Irwin’s exclusion into the Premier League Hall of Fame.
Under Ferguson, the 58-year-old Irishman had a successful career at United, where he was an excellent full-back who could play on either flank and from free kicks and penalties.
“Denis Irwin has won more Premier League titles than Cole has—more than twice as many. absurd that he hasn’t been inducted yet,” an X account commented.
“Denis Irwin [is] still getting snubbed,” wrote a second tweet.
The third person said, “It’s just to remind everyone who the greatest left-back to play professional football ever was. I was worried when I [saw] Denis Irwin was trending.”
“I have no problem with Cole being inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame,” said another. But it’s a complete farce to insert him before Denis Irwin, and someone has to take responsibility for the choice.
“When’s Denis Irwin getting inducted then?” inquired the sixth person.
As another person said, “Denis Irwin. It is absurd that the best left-back in Premier League history isn’t even on the shortlist.
One admirer wrote, “Denis Irwin [over] Ashley Cole and it’s not even a debate.”
Eighth person commented, saying, “Denis Irwin should be ahead of him [Cole], though.”
