Kylian Mbappe made feelings on Manchester United transfer crystal clear before Sir Jim Ratcliffe admission

Kylian Mbappe made his opinions about a Manchester United transfer perfectly plain.

United are one of several clubs connected with France captain and Paris Saint-Germain talisman Mbappe, who is poised to depart the Ligue 1 giants at the end of the season when his contract expires.

While it was widely rumoured last month that Real Madrid was about to sign Mbappe on a five-year contract worth £12.8 million per season, United, Liverpool, and Arsenal remain loosely linked with the Frenchman.

On Tuesday, however, United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe appeared to rule out signing Mbappe.

He told The Geraint Thomas Cycling Club podcast: “I’d rather uncover the next Mbappe than spend a fortune to achieve success. It’s not very intelligent to buy Mbappe; anyone could figure it out.”

However, based on his recent comments, it seems unlikely that Mbappe would be interested in joining United.

In a video that emerged on social media last summer, an Arsenal fan was seen encouraging the France star to “come to Arsenal.”

Mbappe savagely scoffed off the proposal, prompting the fan to plead, “We will look after you.”

Mbappe answered, “Ah, no way. “There is no way.” When asked why, the PSG man coyly replied, “It’s too cold there.”

Of course, if London is deemed too cold for Mbappe, the attacker is unlikely to be lured by Manchester’s notoriously rainy weather.

Ratcliffe was also asked about the remote possibility of one day signing England player Jude Bellingham from Real Madrid.

“He’s a fantastic footballer, but that’s not where our focus is,” Ratcliffe added. “The solution does not involve spending a lot of money on a couple of outstanding players.

“They’ve done it throughout the previous ten years. The first step is to place the right individuals in the right positions to manage and organise the club.

“We must make sure we get recruitment right, such a vital part of running a football club is getting recruitment right, finding new players.”
