Why Manchester United Might Be Excluded from European Competition Next Season
The recent confirmation of 71-year-old entrepreneur Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s acquisition of Manchester United concluded months of speculation.

INEOS Group, led by Ratcliffe, acquired a 27.7% stake in the club for nearly £1 billion, with plans to increase it to about 30% after an additional £238 million investment.

Additionally, INEOS owns Nice, a French football club currently ranked fifth in Ligue 1, raising concerns about UEFA’s regulations against teams owned by the same entity competing in the same tournament.

UEFA has officially stated that clubs under common ownership cannot participate in the same competition, as confirmed by a source within UEFA when questioned by SunSport.

This regulation implies that Nice and Manchester United may need to compete in separate tournaments, given the lack of “feeding” between competitions.
