Jose Mourinho’s departure from Roma was announced following a spate of disappointing results that saw the team drop to ninth position in the Serie A rankings, ending his two and a half-year term at the Stadio Olimpico.
Despite publicly professing his wish to stay with the club, his contract was slated to end this summer.
According to reports, Mourinho presently has no concrete plans following his departure from Roma, with the club playing a big role in the decision. However, he is expected to get other offers in the coming future.
While rumours have circulated that Mourinho could return to the Premier League with Chelsea or Newcastle United, these transfers are deemed doubtful at this time, and nothing has been confirmed.
Despite fan dissatisfaction, Chelsea’s owners appear willing to be patient with current head coach Mauricio Pochettino. Similarly, Newcastle is willing to devote more time to their under-pressure manager, Eddie Howe, who has had issues due to squad injuries.
Mourinho has already indicated interest in managing in Saudi Arabia, and if he remains unemployed this summer, he may receive offers from the Saudi Pro League.
Although Al Hilal had previously offered him a lucrative contract, they are currently functioning well under their current manager and are unlikely to make a move anytime soon.
Al Ahli and Al Nassr, the clubs where Cristiano Ronaldo plays, may consider Mourinho for managerial posts.
Another option for Mourinho is international management, with numerous positions set to open up following Euro 2024 and the Copa America, leading up to the 2026 World Cup.
Mourinho is apparently open to leading the England national team if Gareth Southgate leaves after the Euros, despite Southgate’s professed wish to stay in his position.
