“I’m not stopping him from joining Arsenal but are they also ready to give us their £85M star?”- Newcastle Boss Eddie Howe tips Newcastle star for ‘incredible things’ by joining Arsenal but also warned to release the player if only Mikel Arteta will allow his £85M star join Newcastle- Not Saka, Not Saliba and not Odegard.
Eddie Howe, the manager of Newcastle United, believes that Alexander Isak, a pivotal player for the team, is poised for significant success. This conviction is particularly heightened due to Arsenal’s interest in the player during the January transfer window, driven by Newcastle’s reported financial struggles amounting to £150 million in losses. The challenging economic situation might necessitate the sale of key players, including Isak.
Facing a need for a new striker, Arsenal has turned its attention to Isak, as their primary target, Ivan Toney, may not be a viable option. Howe shared his insights on Arsenal’s interest in Isak during a press conference held after Newcastle’s 3-2 loss to Manchester City, a match in which Isak demonstrated his scoring prowess reminiscent of Alan Shearer.
Howe commended Isak’s performance, drawing parallels with the legendary striker Shearer, and expressed his confidence in Isak’s potential, foreseeing remarkable achievements in his career. Despite grappling with injury troubles this season, Isak is on the path to full fitness, and his recent displays and goals underscore his versatility as a striker.
“He’s still getting back to 100 per cent fit; he is not totally there yet after his injury troubles this season. But the last two performances and the goals he has scored offer a glimpse into his capabilities. He’s an all-round striker in my opinion,” Howe commented.
During an interview with TNT Sports reflecting on Newcastle’s home defeat to Manchester City, Howe acknowledged the challenges faced in the second half of the match. Despite being a constant threat with chances, the team encountered difficulties, and City’s exceptional quality, particularly embodied by Kevin De Bruyne, ultimately proved decisive. Howe highlighted the formidable challenges posed by world-class talents like De Bruyne in the game.
