‘I tried my possible best to lure Him to Man city but He still choose Arsenal over us’: Man city Star Kelvin De Bruyne confirmed His £70m international teammate is set to join Arsenal this week after reaching verbal agreement with them

Arsenal are set to pay at least £60 million in January for Everton midfielder Amadou Onana.

The 22-year-old joined Everton from Lille in June 2022 for a reported £33 million and has since established himself as a crucial first-team component for Toffees boss Sean Dyche.

Onana has made 56 appearances for Everton in all competitions, scoring three goals and providing three assists. He has appeared 21 times this season.

The Belgium international’s contract with Everton runs until June 2027, but he has been linked with a lucrative move to a European club.

Manchester United are reportedly keeping an eye on Onana’s future, amid reports that Everton may be forced to sell some of their first-team talents in order to balance their books and avoid breaking FFP laws.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are thought to be interested in Onana, with a recent rumour saying that the Gunners have approached Everton about a January transfer for the midfielder.

The Toffees have set a £60 million asking price for Onana and have no intention of selling him this month, according to Football Insider.

Onana is seen as a crucial member of Dyche’s first-team squad, with the club facing relegation after a 10-point deduction by the Premier League in November.

Everton’s current record selling is the £75 million they got from Manchester United for the acquisition of striker Romelu Lukaku in 2017.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal is willing to pay a high price this month after spending over £200 million on Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, and Jurrien Timber last summer.

The Gunners are believed to have identified Onana as a potential midfield target amid uncertainty over the long-term futures of Mohamed Elneny, who is out of contract in June, Thomas Partey, Jorginho, and Emile Smith Rowe.
