Arsenal Gunners News

‘I tried my possible best to lure Him to Man city but He still choose Arsenal over us’: Man city Star Kelvin De Bruyne confirmed His £70m international teammate is set to join Arsenal this week after reaching verbal agreement with them.

Arsenal is anticipated to make a substantial payment of at least £60 million to secure the services of Everton midfielder Amadou Onana in the upcoming January transfer window. Onana, who joined Everton from Lille in June 2022 for around £33 million, has become a key figure in manager Sean Dyche’s squad, amassing 56 appearances and contributing three goals and three assists since his arrival.

The 22-year-old Belgian midfielder’s contract with Everton extends until June 2027, but rumors link him with a potential move to a European club. Manchester United is reportedly monitoring Onana’s situation closely, amid speculation that Everton might need to sell some key players to comply with Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations.

Recent reports suggest Arsenal’s strong interest in Onana, with indications that they have initiated discussions with Everton regarding a January transfer deal. Football Insider reveals that Everton has set a £60 million asking price for Onana and is not inclined to part ways with him this month.

Despite Everton facing a challenging season, with a 10-point deduction imposed by the Premier League in November, Onana remains a crucial element in Dyche’s squad. Everton’s highest previous sale was the £75 million transfer of Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United in 2017.

The question remains whether Arsenal, having already spent over £200 million in the previous summer on players like Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, and Jurrien Timber, is willing to make another significant investment. Onana is identified as a potential midfield target for the Gunners, particularly given uncertainties surrounding the futures of players like Mohamed Elneny, Thomas Partey, Jorginho, and Emile Smith Rowe.
