“I have been coaching for 10 years and this is the team where the players are most similar to me in terms of pride- Brighton Boss Roberto De Zerbi makes feelings clear on future amid Manchester United Job and Erig Ten Hag Sacking.
Roberto De Zerbi went back to his home country and told teams in Serie A that he is not ready to go back to Italy for a top job. He also promised to love Brighton.
The manager of Sassuolo is now one of the most sought-after in Europe after leading Albion to a thrilling last 16 match in the Europa League against Roma. This summer, giants like Milan, Juventus, and Napoli in Italy, as well as Liverpool, Manchester United, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich, may all be looking for new managers.
It was October 2021, when De Zerbi’s team, Shakhtar Donetsk, played Inter Milan in the Champions League. It was the last time he managed a game in Italy. He said, “It’s not true that I don’t think about it” when asked if he would go back to Italy to teach.
Being where I am right now is what makes me happy most of the time. I’m lucky to be able to play with this team at this level. I’m glad when I win, but it’s still special when we lose.
I’ll go back to Italy someday. That day has not yet come. But I chose to go to Shakhtar two or three years ago because I wanted to find a way to get out of Italy. For lack of a better word, I would say that Italy had some things I didn’t like. “I chose to do something else.”
Last season, De Zerbi took Brighton to sixth place and into Europe for the first time in their history. The Stadio Olimpico was packed with fans.
He said, “I’m proud to be back here with my team.” “I love my teams and players most of the time.” It took place in Shakhtar, Foggia, Benevento, and Sassuolo. But I really love this team. They can lose by three goals, but they always come back with pride and a hunger to win.
“I have been coaching for 10 years, and this is the team whose players are most like me in terms of pride, hunger, honour, and drive.” The young and old players have the same ideas about sports as I do. I believe in them. We’re not just here to make it to the final eight; we’re also making history.
Daniele De Rossi, who took over as head coach of Roma from Jose Mourinho in January, called his Italian friend a “genius.” De Zerbi replied, “I don’t think I’m smarter or more talented than other people, but I’m not afraid to work hard and I have courage.”
Brighton has had a rough year in the Premier League, but they have won all four of their European games without giving up a goal, and they haven’t lost an away game yet.
“Rome is a beautiful city; I was here last year. One of my favourite films is Gladiator, but I’m here for a different reason, and it’s even nicer,” Pascal Gross said.
