“I gave by best to England and this is how the choose to repay me by kicking me off”-Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has finally broken silence after being kicked out of Garath Southgate England Squad
Harry Maguire, a Manchester United defender, says he is “very upset” that England will not compete in Euro 2024.
The center defense has been a consistent starter for his country and has performed admirably in previous major tournaments.
He had hoped to recover from the calf injury that had kept him out of action since the April draw with Burnley and ensured he would not feature in the Emirates FA Cup final win over Manchester City.
Despite joining Gareth Southgate’s temporary lineup before the German championship, Maguire has not been able to establish his fitness in time.
He posted on social media, “I am disappointed not to have been selected to play for England in the Euros this summer.”
“I’ve been attempting to repair a calf injury, but I’m not improving. Perhaps I overworked myself in an effort to achieve. I’m simply really devastated.
“The biggest honor for me is to represent England. For me, it is everything. If I am unable to contribute to the team as a player, I, like the rest of the country, will cheer them on as a fan. Boys, go win it.
“To prepare for the new season, I will return to the Manchester United medical staff.”
Everyone at United wishes Harry the best of luck with his recovery throughout the offseason.
Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo had better news with the announcement of England’s finals lineup.
After making the cut, both Reds will represent the Three Lions in Germany.
