I don’t like to talk about Manchester United but i must say this, the way Manchester United is treating my country man is not right”- Former PSG Star Neymer Jr reveals his £70m countryman is very angry and frustrated with Erig Ten Hag
Manchester United winger Antony feels he is regaining his form, and he has told supporters that he will continue to develop all parts of his game.
Erik ten Hag worked hard to sign Antony in his first summer in command, and an £86 million agreement was ultimately reached with Ajax following months of lengthy discussions.
Antony scored against Arsenal, Manchester City, and Everton in his first three Premier League games, but added just one more goal that season. The winger finished the season with eight goals and three assists in all competitions, and despite expectations that he would improve in his second year, he has continued to underperform.
Antony had been largely seen as a poor acquisition, but his recent performances have shown hopeful indications, including a superb effort against Chelsea. Although United fell 4-3 at Stamford Bridge, Antony believes the evening might be a turning moment in his career, and he spoke with club media this week about his play.
“I’m pretty delighted with my form; I’ve worked really hard every day for it,” Antony told MUTV. “I’ve been working hard in training for months, so I’m happy with my results and aim to improve with each game. I understand that there is plenty that can be improved, and I have worked on it. I’m glad to watch my performance improve with each game.”
Antony was quizzed about his performance against Chelsea, specifically his assist on Alejandro Garnacho’s second goal. “You can definitely anticipate a lot of these instances. As I have said, hard effort has restored my confidence.
“Despite having gone through a lot, I’ve had some extremely tough periods. I’ve been turning things around for a time now.
“Importantly, I continue to work regardless of the circumstances. I was happy with Garnacho’s assist, and you should anticipate a lot of positive things in the future.”
Antony has two goals and two assists this season, although half of them came against League One strugglers Newport County in the FA Cup’s fourth round.
Ten Hag commented on Antony’s performance against Chelsea, saying, “I know he is competent. I’ve seen that a lot when I was manager at Ajax, but not since this [at United].
“Maybe in the outset, we saw flashes in the first three games when he scored three goals. But after that, like against Barcelona last season, he scored the winning goal. But he is capable of it. On Thursday night, I saw the Antony I wanted to see.
