“He was the cause of our defeat, he had lost the ball more than 10 times on the pitch which caused the second and Third goal, he needs to leave my club-Enzo Maresca reveals main person for Chelsea defeat

Enzo Maresca has acknowledged that Chelsea “needs to improve many things off the ball” following their 4-1 defeat to Celtic in a preseason match on Saturday night.

The Scottish champions took the lead in the first half with goals from Matt O’Reily and Kyogo Furuhashi. Brendan Rodgers’ team maintained their dominance at Notre Dame Stadium in Indiana. In the second half, Celtic’s Luis Palma and Mikey Johnston extended their lead, while Christopher Nkunku scored a late consolation goal for Chelsea from the penalty spot.

This loss marked Chelsea’s first defeat of the preseason, following a 2-2 draw with Wrexham earlier in the week.

Maresca also pointed out that his team is still “disoriented” when it comes to possession and movement on the field.

“The outcome is crucial, as we have stated,” Maresca commented after the game. “For us, a general analysis of the game is necessary.” He noted that the team was significantly more effective on the ball compared to their performance against Wrexham, highlighting the numerous chances they created in both halves of the match.
