SACKED LETTER: Eric Ten Hag and Andre ONANA issued a letter of dismissal immediately after the match against Manchester City yesterday, as the new manager is scheduled to be introduced the following day.

Phil Foden scored twice in the second half as Manchester City rallied from behind to defeat Manchester United 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

Marcus Rashford’s thunderous long shot had given Erik ten Hag’s side an improbable lead in the Manchester derby, and Erling Haaland’s startling error from considerably closer range allowed United to keep the lead until halftime. But they couldn’t hang on.

Foden scored a beautiful goal of his own before putting City ahead with a low finish. Haaland finally scored in stoppage time to reflect his team’s dominance and end United’s streak of 143 Premier League games without a loss while leading at halftime.

Ten Hag may claim to a plan that worked for nearly an hour and several questionable decisions against his team, but City were deserving winners. The victory extends their unbeaten streak to 19 games and brings Pep Guardiola’s team back within one point of leaders Liverpool, whom they face next Sunday at 3.45pm on Sky Sports.
