‘He doesn’t know’ -Erling Haaland brutally hits back at Alexander-Arnold after Man City spending dig

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s criticism of Manchester City’s spending has been put down to the final level by Erling Haaland.

On Sunday, City plays Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool team at Anfield in a Premier League match that will have a big impact on who wins the title in May. We are one point ahead of City after 27 games, though.

Liverpool won their only Premier League title in 2019/20, while City has won it five times in the last six years. And this week, Alexander-Arnold said that Liverpool’s trophies under Klopp “mean more” to the club and its fans “because of the financial situations at both clubs.”

You don’t have to be an expert in finance to see where Alexander-Arnold’s case falls apart. Liverpool has still spent between £803m and £1.28bn on players, even though Pep Guardiola has made City spend more than £1.2bn on players. Guardiola has spent an average of £80m on players per prize, while Klopp has spent £70m. City has spent more money and won more.

In reaction, City striker Erling Haaland summed up what his opponent had said by talking about how he felt when his team won the treble last season and saying that Alexander-Arnold would never know what that was like.

He told Sky Sports, “If he wants to say that, that’s fine.” This is my first year here. I won the treble, which felt pretty good. I don’t think he knows how you feel. That’s how I felt last season, and it was nice.

“They can talk for as long as they want, and so can we.” I’m not sure why he does that, but I don’t mind.

When asked about the game on Sunday, Haaland made fun of Liverpool again by telling them that they weren’t in the title race last year.

“It’s going to be a great game,” he said. “Liverpool has been the best team so far because they are in first place in the league.” We need to play our best. I think the race for the title was pretty interesting last year. At one point, someone may have been a little behind in the race for the title.

“That was nice of you. The great thing about the Premier League is that there are so many great players. There are many teams that can win the Premier League. City won it last year. We’re going to try again. We’re good, but it won’t be easy.
