Former Roma Boss Jose Mourinho is set to shock the football world by taking this job
Jose Mourinho’s representative has apparently verified that the 60-year-old is willing to take the position with Al-Shabab, but only under one condition.
According to the Spanish source AS, the Portuguese coach is in talks with Al Shabab about a possible new chapter for the former Real Madrid head. Mourinho has been receiving offers from Saudi Arabia for a while now.
According to the article, Mourinho rejected down bids last summer owing to “promises made to players” but expressed interest in a future endeavour in the Saudi Pro League.
According to sports writer Turki Alghamdi (via Daily Post), Jose Mourinho’s representative Jorge Mendes has said that the manager has accepted to join Al-Shabab on the condition that the club bring in’star names.’
Other people are also interested in the legendary manager. Napoli are apparently interested in hiring the serial champion, and a return to the Premier League is also possible, with Newcastle interested in replacing Eddie Howe with him.
According to ESPN, Mourinho has received early interest from various European clubs, raising the chance that he may reject a move to Saudi Arabia.
However, if an agreement with the Saudi club is reached quickly, his first game as manager of Al-Shabab might be against AS Roma in a friendly in Riyadh.
Mourinho was sacked by Roma this week after posting the lowest win percentage of his career – yet he still managed to do what he does best: win championships.
Mourinho helped Roma end their 14-year trophy drought in his debut season with the club by winning the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League.
A year later, Roma advanced to the Europa League final, but were defeated by Sevilla on penalties.
