Former Chelsea star is set to leave Barcelona on a free transfer this summer.

After spending two seasons with Barcelona, Marcos Alonso is set to leave the club on a free transfer at the end of the current season. The 33-year-old has faced challenges this season due to injuries, missing all La Liga matches since October because of a back problem he sustained in December.

Alonso made a significant impact in his first season with Barcelona after joining from Chelsea in 2022, making 37 appearances across all competitions and helping the team win La Liga. Initially signing a one-year contract, he extended his stay until the summer of 2024 in January of the following year.

However, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Alonso’s time at Camp Nou is coming to an end this summer due to his injury struggles. Despite his recovery, Alonso was on the bench for Barcelona’s 1-0 La Liga win over Las Palmas on March 30, aiming to finish his tenure with the club positively.

Barcelona’s upcoming match is a quarterfinal clash against PSG in the Champions League, starting in Paris on April 10, under manager Xavi’s leadership.
