First Chelsea player responds to Enzo Fernandez posting video of Argentina players singing ‘r@cist chant
The footage made it back to Cobham. He has made his feelings quite known.
First Chelsea player replies to Enzo Fernandez tweeting a video of Argentina players performing a ‘racist chant.’
The first Chelsea player has replied to Enzo Fernandez’s video of him performing a racist song about the French national team.
The prejudiced cry reads, “They play for France, but their parents are from Angola.” Their mother is from Cameroon and their father is from Nigeria. But their passport reads French.”
Several Argentina players can be heard shouting the song on a team bus, with the chant appearing to commence toward the conclusion of an Instagram live before the Chelsea midfielder was told to stop shooting.
The French Football Federation issued a statement condemning the slogan while initiating a legal case.
Chelsea has a lot of French players, notably Wesley Fofana, who fearlessly called out a teammate on social media.
He shared a video of Fernandez chanting the chant, along with the remark, “Football in 2024: unbridled racism,” and three facepalming emojis.
Furthermore, Fofana appears to have unfollowed Fernandez on Instagram, as do his Chelsea colleagues Axel Disasi and Malo Gusto, who are also French.
They are not the only French players at Chelsea; the club also has Benoit Badiashile, Christopher Nkunku, and Malang Sarr on its roster.
Enzo Maresca, the new Chelsea manager, appears to be dealing with a problem after beginning pre-season for the 2024/25 season.
Fernandez signed for Chelsea in January 2023 for a fee of £106.8 million.
He has made 63 appearances in all competitions since arriving to England.
Fofana, who joined from Leicester City for an initial £70 million, suffered a devastating ACL injury, keeping him out of the 2023/24 season.
The defender has appeared in just 20 games in all competitions for the club.
