Chelsea News

DEVASTATING NEW: coming from Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea FC star along side Thiago silva are now open to leaving Chelsea during the summer.

The player’s representatives, led by his long-time agent Uriel Perez, have initiated talks with multiple clubs to explore potential opportunities for the talented midfielder. Since his record-breaking €121 million move to Chelsea with the help of superagent Jorge Mendes, Fernandez has struggled to justify his price tag at Stamford Bridge. It’s unclear whether the player or his representatives are driving the transfer talks, but Fernandez’s contract, running until 2032 with a one-year extension activated by the club, is a key factor. Despite being hailed as a ‘complete midfielder’ upon signing, Fernandez’s performances have revealed limitations.

Upon securing an agreement with Benfica, Chelsea’s chairman Todd Boehly and co-owner Behdad Eghbali expressed enthusiasm for signing Fernandez, lauding him as a World Cup winner and one of the brightest talents globally. They foresee his significant impact on Graham Potter’s squad and Chelsea’s future success, citing his proven abilities at the highest levels.

In his time at Chelsea, spanning over a year, Fernandez has managed just five goals and three assists in 49 matches. While Mykhailo Mudryk sought a loan move in January to rediscover form, the club turned down the request. Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea’s manager, openly acknowledged Fernandez’s need for improvement on the pitch, particularly in his partnership with Moises Caicedo, despite being the Premier League’s most expensive midfield duo.

After a disappointing 2-0 loss to Everton recently, Pochettino stressed the necessity for better chemistry between Fernandez and Caicedo, as well as improved individual performances. He pointed out their youth and limited experience, acknowledging the high expectations upon their arrival but also the challenges of adapting to a new league and a team in transition. Pochettino cautioned against judging players solely on their transfer fees, highlighting the multifaceted nature of football beyond financial metrics.
