The Report Claims That Those In Charge Of Chelsea’s Recruitment Are Hoping To ‘Speed Things Up’ In Relation To Their Pursuit Of The Striker, In An Effort To Beat French Side Paris Saint-Germain To The Player’s Signature.

Chelsea entered The Etihad Stadium as clear underdogs against the reigning Premier League champions, Manchester City. However, Raheem Sterling, playing against his former club, managed to score and give the visitors an early lead. Later in the match, a deflected shot from midfielder Rodri equalized for Manchester City. Despite the draw, Chelsea’s manager, Mauricio Pochettino, will be satisfied with the result, as his team secured a crucial point.

Pochettino will now focus on improving Chelsea’s position in the league standings, with the aim of qualifying for European competition next season. Regardless of where they finish this season, Chelsea seems set for significant summer investments.

According to Rudy Galetti via The Sun, Chelsea is prepared to activate Victor Osimhen’s £111 million release clause. The club’s recruitment team is reportedly keen to expedite the acquisition of the striker to beat Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to his signature. PSG is seeking a new forward as Kylian Mbappe is expected to leave at the end of the season.

Since being acquired by Clearlake Capital in 2022, Chelsea has spent over ÂŁ1 billion on new signings but made no additions during the recent January transfer window. Despite the heavy investment, Chelsea has struggled with goal scoring this season, heightening their interest in Osimhen.

The Nigerian international joined Napoli from Lille in 2020 and has since made 119 appearances, scoring 67 goals and providing 19 assists. Reports suggest that Chelsea will soon engage in negotiations with Napoli to discuss the financial terms of a potential transfer.

Although Osimhen recently extended his contract with Napoli until 2026, Chelsea remains determined to pursue the striker.
