Jurgen Klopp wants Liverpool fans to look past the fact that he is leaving and concentrate on tonight’s game. Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea team goes to Anfield to play the league leaders and try to get a big win.
He told the club’s fans last week that he would be going at the end of the season. Klopp has become synonymous with Liverpool since he joined the Merseyside club in October 2015. He will be hoping to end his last season with a big prize haul, though Chelsea will be hoping to beat Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final.
Throughout the rest of the season, there will be a lot of talk about Klopp’s choice and Liverpool’s possible next manager. The 56-year-old coach, on the other hand, is well aware that Chelsea will want to ruin the happy mood at Anfield.
“This is definitely a time to forget that the manager is leaving at the end of the season and to do everything we can as a team to make it as difficult as we can for a really strong opponent,” Klopp wrote in the programme notes for the game. “This is something we can do together, and it will definitely give us a chance to move forward again.”
If Chelsea wins at Anfield, they will be only one point behind West Ham in fifth place. On the other hand, Liverpool will be trying to get back to the top of the table with a five-point lead. Asked about the mood his team will be in when they play Liverpool, Pochettino said that Chelsea wants to break up the party.
“Yes, of course. He really likes this game. “The whole time, it will be unique,” Pochettino said. The fans love him, and I think that every time they play at Anfield, there will be a party to enjoy and show him how much they care.
We believe we need to go there and win the game, though. We’re sorry, but we don’t want to be a part of the party. We’d like to do well and win the game.
