It looked like Txiki Begiristain missed out on the Serbian star player because AC Milan was getting close to a deal.

However, Daniele Longo of Calciomercato says that AC Milan was unhappy with how Popovic’s agents acted as a deal got closer, which caused the deal to fall through.

The trustworthy reporter wrote, “Breaking: The talks between Milan and Popovic’s agents are still stuck.” The club doesn’t really care about what the crew wants. Matija really wants to wear the Rossoneri, but it’s not enough.

Today, Falk says that AC Milan is no longer in the running, but Bayern Munich, Napoli, and Manchester City are all still in the running.
Popovic, who has been compared to Michu, is seen as one of the best talents in Europe. He scored 20 goals in 24 Kadetska Liga games in the 2022–23 season before turning down a new deal at Partizan.

The Manchester City team has time
Another important thing is that Manchester City doesn’t have to sign Popovic before the trade deadline.

The 18-year-old’s deal with Partizan expired, so he is now a free agent and can sign with any club without the transfer window being open.

Of course, Napoli and Bayern Munich are racing against Manchester City to sign the Serbia U17 international, so time is running out.

There is also the chance that AC Milan will come back into the picture if the Italian giants are able to make peace with the teenager’s reps.

But if Manchester City and Popovic can come to a deal over the phone, Begiristain can take as much time as he needs to finish up the smaller details. The Citizens will not be limited by a deadline.
