Man City wants to sign Joshua Kimmich, the sixth-best player for Bayern Munich, and the club’s thoughts on a deal have now been made public.

Sam Lee, who writes about Manchester City for The Athletic, was the one who broke the news.

So, what does Manchester City know right now about a possible deal for Joshua Kimmich? Let’s look…

What City knows about the Kimmich deal
According to The Athletic, Manchester City knows how hard it will be to get the German player from Bayern Munich this summer. There is some doubt about the deal going through.

Lee does say that Txiki Begiristain is looking into ways to finish the deal as Manchester City try to find a replacement for Kalvin Phillips.

At the end of the season, Kimmich will only have 12 months left on his deal with Bayern Munich. The Daily Star says that by that time, the German player will be worth about £25 million less.

It is also said in The Daily Star that the 28-year-old wants to work with Guardiola again because he worked with the Spanish coach at Bayern Munich.

So far this season, Kimmich has played 23 times for Bayern Munich in all competitions, hitting one goal and setting up six others.

Why Kimmich wants to work with Guardiola again
In 2019, Kimmich said that he would love to work with Guardiola again, when there were reports that the 53-year-old would return to the Allianz Arena to replace Niko Kovac.

Sky Sports said that the man from Rottweil said, “I know Guardiola and have a lot to thank him for.” I came from the second level and he let me play in the Bundesliga.

“We won the double together, and I played for Germany after that season.” Of course, I won’t stop him from coming back.”

Kimmich played 36 times for Bayern Munich under Guardiola and set up two goals as the team won the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal.

The German playmaker and the Spanish player should be able to join up again at Manchester City this summer.
