Chelsea star has refused to sign a new contract at the club in a major blow to after the appointment of Enzo Maresca as Chelsea new manager
And for Chelsea, they start with a home game against the current champions, Manchester City. Under newly hired head coach Enzo Maresca at Stamford Bridge with one of the toughest football challenges—beating Man City—the Blues will formally start their journey.
Maresca is going to have some really tough obstacles during the season. And with Chelsea maybe returning to European action next season, fixture congestion may definitely play a major role in the Italian’s inaugural year at the club.
To qualify for the Europa Conference League group stage, Chelsea must advance via a two-leg play-off tie, though. Although the tie has not yet been decided, the first leg is set for August 22 and the return game for one week later, August 29.
Should Chelsea get through the play-off tie, then they might quite well have a busy December to start at least. English football is notorious for throwing challenges throughout the last month of the year; nevertheless, if the Blues are to qualify for the Carabao Cup quarter-final, they might play up to nine games over December.
As things stand and this is all subject to change, Chelsea face Brentford at home in the Premier League on December 14 and thereafter may participate in a Carabao Cup quarter-final on December 18 with a Conference League game on December 19. These are to be verified, but if this is the case, it will require some major juggling to match all of the fixtures in.
December for Chelsea may look like this:
07/12/24: Tottenham away (Premier League)
12/12/24: Conference League game
14/12/24: Brentford home (Premier League)
18/12/24 – quarter-final Carabao Cup
19/12/24: Conference League game
