Chelsea New manager Enzo Maresca is set to sign Manchester City Trible winner as Chelsea’s first signing this season for £60m
After another grueling Premier League season, footballers are now either on international duty or enjoying a well-deserved break during the off-season.
In the coming weeks, several Manchester City players will represent their countries as preparations for Euro 2024 in Germany ramp up. The competition is set to commence on July 15.
While the players are occupied elsewhere, Manchester City will remain active in preparing for the new season. This includes identifying transfer targets and assessing the squad to determine the future plans for various players.
Consequently, there has been a flurry of news about Manchester City recently. The Manchester Evening News has reviewed some of the latest developments and provided their own insights.
Former City Player Joins Chelsea
Enzo Maresca, who left Manchester City just a year ago, has been appointed as the new head coach of Chelsea. Previously, Maresca served as an assistant manager at City during the season when they achieved a historic treble under Pep Guardiola. Last year, he took on the role of manager at Leicester City and successfully led them to win the Championship, securing their immediate return to the Premier League.
Next season, however, Maresca will be in the Chelsea dugout instead of managing Leicester against City. He has signed a five-year contract with Chelsea, which includes an option for an additional year.
