Despite the approaching Profitability and Sustainability Regulation (PSR) deadline, Chelsea extended a new contract to Gallagher, positioning him as one of the highest-paid midfielders at Stamford Bridge. However, the 24-year-old midfielder was seeking a longer-term commitment than the two-year contract, with an additional one-year option, that Chelsea proposed.
As for Gallagher’s future, he has not yet agreed to terms with Atletico Madrid. He has made it clear that he will only sign a contract if the terms meet his expectations. Additionally, Tottenham Hotspur has shown interest in acquiring him, but Gallagher retains the option to remain with Chelsea until the end of his current contract in 2025.
