Chelsea Manager Pochettino broke down in tears as another 2 Key Chelsea player goes off injured during training ahead of FA Cup Clash, a very sad moment for Chelsea fans as the injury seems to be a career ending injury
Mauricio Pochettino acknowledges that some of his Chelsea players are’struggling to deal with the strain’ of representing the club.
The Argentine took over at Stamford Bridge during another frantic summer of spending last year.
Since Todd Boehly took control, the Blues have signed 28 players, with only Alex Disasi and Christopher Nkunku over the age of 23.
Cole Palmer, 21, has been the club’s star player this season, topping the goal scoring rankings and forcing his way into the England squad since joining from Manchester City.
Pochettino is certain Palmer understands the demands of playing for a club like Chelsea, but argues the same is not true elsewhere in the group.
‘At the same time that you ask me about Cole Palmer, not all players go through the same process of settling in at the club or performing,’ Pochettino explained.
‘The core bunch, especially the young players, are struggling with the strain of playing for Chelsea.
‘That is something we are aware of, and we are focused on assisting them in all aspects.
‘It is not just to assist them throughout the two hours of instruction. We’ve spent a lot of time talking to them, as well as the individuals that work around them.
‘If we can help them in all aspects of their lives, I believe the easiest thing will be to help them perform on the pitch.’
Chelsea face Leicester City in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Sunday. Three years earlier, the two teams clashed in the final, with Youri Tielemans scoring an incredible late winner.
In light of the turmoil that has occurred at Chelsea since then, only Reece James, Ben Chilwell, and Thiago Silva remain from that 2021 squad.
