Chelsea Manager Mouricio Pochettino has been Sacked this Evening in shocking scene after drawing 2:2 to 20th Burnley in the premier league
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino couldn’t disguise his disappointment as his team failed to beat ten-man Burnley at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
Despite Lorenz Assignon’s red card in the first half, the Blues were pegged back twice against the relegation-threatened Clarets. Cole Palmer scored his 17th and 18th goals of the 2023/24 season for Pochettino’s team, but it wasn’t enough.
Burnley, who saw manager Vincent Kompany sent out, salvaged a point in the 81st minute, only moments after Palmer made it 2-1. Raheem Sterling lost a golden opportunity in the closing seconds of the game, and Pochettino’s side remains 11th in the Premier League.
Chelsea took 33 shots against Burnley and had 69% possession against 10 men. However, they squandered a lot of prime opportunities, leaving Pochettino angry.
“I agree [two points lowered]. “I’m very disappointed with how we handled the situation in the second half,” the Argentine stated. “We are a squad that, when we play in possession and forward, is capable of creating an excessive number of chances, but we may not score on all of them.
“We need to improve our percentage in the game.”
He continued, “After today, we didn’t demonstrate the capacity, energy, or rage. This is not the minimum requirement to compete in the Premier League. In the defensive phase, we give up too much.
“This is why I’m so frustrated and dissatisfied. Being powerful as a collective, as a team, requires more strength in your heart and mind than in your legs. That is occasionally the case, and for many reasons, we are slow to evolve in this area.
“That’s the key today. It’s not about making excuses. The team played well; yes, we have energy; yes, we move forward; nevertheless, when we don’t have the ball, we lose energy.
“I apologize, but I am dissatisfied with our performance when we do not have the ball. If we can create opportunities like we did and have the ability to move and find all of the different ways to penetrate a team that plays with a very deep block.
“They are a very physical team, we need to be strong also and have the capacity to recover the ball too much.”
Pochettino’s comments serve as just another reminder of Chelsea’s clear desire to sign a natural goalscorer this summer. Because of Christopher Nkunku’s injury troubles and Nicolas Jackson’s unreliability, the west Londoners have continued to miss opportunities in front of goal.
