The thigh injury Malo Gusto sustained in the draw with Crystal Palace has forced him to miss time playing for France’s Under-21 team. Gusto plays for Chelsea.
In place of Reece James, Gusto began at right back for Chelsea in their opening Premier League games of the season. However, he was substituted during the second half of Sunday’s 1-1 tie at Stamford Bridge.
With fifteen minutes left in the game, the Frenchman pulled up, clutching the back of his leg.
Gusto joined the France Under-21 team on Monday in preparation for their European Championship qualifying matches against Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
But Gusto, along with Lens midfielder Andy Diouf and Burnley defender Maxime Estève, is one of three players who have now been ruled out of those matches.
The French Football Federation verified that Gusto had a thigh issue.
On September 14, Chelsea travels to Bournemouth and will be hoping that Gusto recovers in time.

James has been serving a three-match ban that was carried over from the end of the previous season, therefore Gusto has been starting at right back in James’ place.
The Chelsea captain missed Chelsea’s Europa Conference League playoff matches against Servette due to a hamstring issue.
Maresca expressed optimism that James will be ready again after the international break during a news conference last week.
In Sunday’s tie, Enzo Fernandez also suffered an injury; the team’s medical personnel assisted him in leaving the field.
Chelsea lost their first game of the season and then defeated Wolves 6-2 to start the season with four points from their first three games.
