Chelsea Manager Enzo Maresca broke down in tears as another Key Chelsea player Who was supposed to be the main man For Chelsea Squad goes off injured during World cup qualifiers gam
Chelsea’s forward, Nicolas Jackson, sustained an ankle injury while representing Senegal on the international stage. The incident occurred during Senegal’s recent World Cup qualifier match against DR Congo, where Jackson was substituted in the dying minutes of the game. Despite the 1-1 draw, the injury forced Jackson to withdraw from Senegal’s upcoming qualifier against Mauritania.
The severity of Jackson’s injury became evident after Senegal’s medical team conducted an MRI scan, diagnosing it as a “serious sprain” on his right ankle. Consequently, Jackson will undergo a period of rest before commencing pre-season training with Chelsea in July.
Looking ahead, Chelsea’s pre-season preparations entail a series of challenging fixtures in the United States. Beginning their tour with a clash against Wrexham in California on July 24, Chelsea will subsequently face tough opponents including Celtic, Club America, Manchester City, and Real Madrid.
Jackson’s debut season with Chelsea saw him netting 17 goals across all competitions, although his performances were marred by inconsistency, drawing criticism from some quarters. Despite this, he earned praise for his dynamic displays in the Premier League since joining from Villarreal for £31.8 million the previous summer.
Gary Neville, speaking on Sky Sports’ The Gary Neville Podcast in April, expressed his admiration for Jackson’s potential: “I genuinely like Nicolas Jackson; it could be a controversial stance on here, but I like him. I believe he has a lot to offer; he is a young player. I don’t believe he cost a lot of money, but this is his first full season in the Premier League, he’s scored a lot of goals, and he’s still going.”
Neville highlighted Jackson’s contribution to Chelsea’s attacking prowess, albeit suggesting room for improvement in terms of finishing. He emphasized the significance of having a reliable striker, particularly in crucial matches like Chelsea’s FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City. In Neville’s view, addressing this area could bolster Chelsea’s chances of success in future competitions.
