CHELSEA FINALISE THE SIGNING OF SPORTING LISBON STRIKER

Despite significant expenditures in recent transfer windows, the Blues find themselves lacking offensive prowess. Currently, key players like Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku are unavailable, and Armando Broja may be on the brink of a move, attracting interest from Premier League rivals such as Aston Villa, West Ham, Fulham, and Wolves.

Amidst the ongoing transfer window, Chelsea has been linked to several strikers, but a high-priced deal appears improbable without additional player sales. The team is keen on ensuring compliance with Premier League financial regulations. Notable names like Ivan Toney from Brentford and Victor Osimhen from Napoli seem out of reach until the summer, and Gyokeres also appears to be currently inaccessible.

Gyokeres, the former Coventry forward, made a significant impact after moving to Portugal’s Primeira Liga last summer in a deal estimated at £20 million. Chelsea has been associated with other players like RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, Brighton’s Evan Ferguson, Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy, Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez, and Stuttgart’s Evan Ferguson.

In just 25 games for Sporting in various competitions, Gyokeres has sparked discussions about a potential swift transfer, boasting an impressive record of 22 goals and 10 assists. However, Sporting’s manager, Ruben Amorim, dismisses Chelsea’s €85 million (£72.8 million) offer for the Swedish international, deeming it insufficient. The Lisbon giants insist on a hefty €100 million (£85.7 million) for their star striker. When questioned about the rumored Blues offer, Amorim stated, “I don’t know, I didn’t even ask [director of football Hugo] Viana. Obviously, I was informed of the news. As soon as they said it was €85m, I thought: ‘that’s not enough.’ It’s only €100m. I’m not worried.”
