Chelsea complete move for Manchester City treble winner as ‘dream’ transfer outlined, deal has been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano
After another demanding Premier League season, footballers are either on international duty or enjoying a well-deserved break. Over the next few weeks, several Manchester City players will compete for their countries as preparations for Euro 2024 in Germany finalize. The tournament kicks off on July 15.
Although the players are away, Manchester City will remain busy preparing for the new season. This includes identifying transfer targets and assessing the squad to determine long-term plans.
**Ex-City Player Joins Chelsea**
Enzo Maresca, a former Manchester City assistant manager, has become Chelsea’s new head coach just a year after leaving City. Last season, he led Leicester City to a Championship title and an immediate return to the Premier League after serving as Pep Guardiola’s assistant during City’s treble-winning campaign.
Maresca signed a five-year contract with Chelsea, with an option for an additional year. According to MENSport, his possession-based approach, similar to Guardiola’s, attracted Chelsea. His move is considered one of the surprising transfers of the summer, and it will be interesting to see how he fares at Stamford Bridge, given Chelsea’s history of managerial changes. Some argue he should have gained more experience at Leicester before making such a significant move.
Maresca previously used his City connections to secure Callum Doyle on loan at Leicester, but City may be less inclined to support him now that he’s at Chelsea.
**Deniz Undav’s Ambition**
Deniz Undav, a Brighton & Hove Albion striker, expressed his desire to play for Manchester City before retiring. Despite struggling to break into the starting lineup in his debut Premier League season, the 27-year-old spent the season on loan with Stuttgart in the Bundesliga, where he scored 18 goals and provided 10 assists in 30 league appearances.
Speaking to Bild, Undav mentioned his ambition to join major teams like Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Manchester City. He emphasized his daily efforts to achieve this goal.
MENSport noted that despite his impressive goal-scoring record in the Bundesliga, Undav struggled in the Premier League. To catch Pep Guardiola’s attention, he needs to return to Brighton and start scoring consistently. At 27, Undav is at a critical point in his career, and the 2024-2025 season will be pivotal for securing his dream move.
