Chelsea complete move for Manchester City treble winner as ‘dream’ transfer outlined, deal has been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano
The off-season means that players are either gone on international duty or having a well-deserved rest following another exhausting Premier League season.
Several Manchester City players will represent their country in the coming weeks as they prepare for Euro 2024 in Germany. The event starts on July 15.
Aside from the playing personnel, there will be a lot of action at Manchester City as the new season approaches. Some of that tasks will entail identifying transfer targets and evaluating the team to determine players’ futures.
Former City player completes Chelsea move
Enzo Maresca, a former City assistant manager, has officially been named Chelsea’s next head coach, barely one year after leaving City.
The Italian coach served as Pep Guardiola’s assistant during the treble-winning season before taking over as manager of Leicester City last year. He guided the Foxes to the Championship title and immediate promotion to the Premier League.
However, he will now be in charge of Chelsea rather than Leicester versus City next season. He has signed a five-year contract at Stamford Bridge, with an option for an additional year.
According to MENSport, Maresca’s possession-based approach, similar to Guardiola’s, drew Chelsea in. It would be intriguing to watch how he performs at Stamford Bridge, given the Blues’ record for hiring and firing players; there is some disagreement over whether he would have been better off gaining more experience at Leicester before making a huge transfer.
At Leicester, he took use of his City ties by signing defender Callum Doyle on loan. However, now that he is at Chelsea, City may be less likely to support him.
Brighton & Hove Albion striker Deniz Undav has expressed his desire to play for Manchester City before the conclusion of his career. The 27-year-old has spent the season on loan with Bundesliga club Stuttgart after struggling to get consistent playing time in his maiden season in the Premier League.
He scored an incredible 18 goals in 30 league games last season and assisted on another ten. He has now spoken about his future and mentioned City as a place he intends to strive hard toward.
“I believe there are few players who would turn down an offer from Bayern.” “Everyone aspires to transfer to the very great teams at some point: Manchester City, Real Madrid, Barcelona,” he told Bild. “That’s the last major step I want to take one day, and I’m working hard every day to make it happen.”
According to MENSport, while Undav has a great goalscoring record in the Bundesliga, he has struggled in his one season in the Premier League. If he wants to grab Pep Guardiola’s attention in the coming years, he should return to Brighton and start scoring goals for joy.
Unfortunately for the striker, time is running out. At 27, he should be at the top of his career, therefore the 2024/25 season will be critical in securing his ‘dream’ final move.
