Arsenal Gunners News

Arteta wants to take my birth right away from me but I will keep fighting for my position”, Bukayo Saka broke down in tears during press conference today as Arsenal have agreed personal terms with terrific Winger who is technically better than Saka to replace Him next season

Arsenal has set its sights on Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams as a prime target for the upcoming summer transfer window, according to a report by The Athletic.

Williams delivered a remarkable performance in the 2023/24 season, notching 8 goals and 19 assists across 37 appearances for Bilbao. His outstanding form has continued into the European Championship, capturing even more attention from Arsenal’s scouting team.

Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal and a fellow Spaniard, holds Williams in high regard. Arteta considers the 21-year-old winger a top candidate if Arsenal opts to bolster its wide attacking options.

Currently, Arsenal’s roster includes Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli on the left flank, with Bukayo Saka firmly established on the right wing. Despite Saka’s consistent and significant contributions to the team’s goal tally, Arteta may be looking to add depth and quality to reduce Saka’s workload over the long season.

In this context, Williams would be a valuable addition to the squad. Although he primarily played on the left wing for Bilbao last season, he demonstrated his prowess on the right wing during the 2022/23 season. Williams’ versatility, combined with his exceptional dribbling ability, speed, and strong defensive contributions, make him an attractive prospect for Arsenal.

The Athletic further reports that Williams has a release clause of £46.5 million in his contract with Bilbao, which the club is unlikely to negotiate down. Considering Williams’ age and potential, this fee could be viewed as a prudent investment in the current transfer market.

However, a potential challenge for Arsenal will be persuading Williams to join without guaranteeing him a regular starting position.
