Arsenal star William Saliba could face a lifetime ban similar to Paul Pogba’s for suspected doping after an impressive 90-minute performance for France at the EUROs. According to a report from L’Equipe, France international centre-back William Saliba, age 23, did not board the France team bus following their 1-1 draw against Poland in Dortmund. The reason for his absence was a post-game anti-doping control that took longer than expected, causing the bus carrying his teammates to depart without him around 9pm CET. Saliba, who played all three group stage matches for France, was finally able to leave Borussia Dortmund’s stadium at 10:30pm CET. During this extended stay, he was accompanied by members of the France coaching staff. L’Equipe also reported that Tuesday night marked the arrival of the players’ families at the Euro 2024 base camp in Bad Lippspringe. The families are scheduled to depart from the Best Western Premier Park Hotel and Spa on Thursday around noon.

According to L’Equipe, the 23-year-old French international did not accompany his team on the bus after their 1-1 draw against Poland in Dortmund. The delay was caused by an unexpectedly prolonged post-game anti-doping test, resulting in the team bus leaving without him around 9 pm CET.

 

Saliba, who participated in all three group stage matches for France, was eventually able to exit Borussia Dortmund’s stadium at 10:30 pm CET. He was not alone during this time; members of the France coaching staff remained with him throughout the extended period.

 

L’Equipe further noted that Tuesday night marked a significant moment for the players as their families arrived at the Euro 2024 base camp in Bad Lippspringe. These family members are scheduled to leave the Best Western Premier Park Hotel and Spa by Thursday around noon.
