Arsenal Gunners News

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has compiled a list of four potential candidates to replace Gabriel Jesus this upcoming summer.

Since his transfer from Manchester City to Arsenal in 2022, Gabriel Jesus has struggled to meet Mikel Arteta’s expectations as a dependable goal scorer. Despite a recent appearance on the bench during Arsenal’s 4-1 victory over Newcastle United, Jesus has been sidelined due to persistent knee problems since January. This limited contribution highlights the team’s need for offensive reinforcements, especially as they aim to close the gap with Premier League leaders Liverpool.

With only four league goals this season, Jesus is eager to return to action, albeit with careful monitoring from Arsenal’s medical team considering his history of fitness issues. Arsenal is actively considering signing a new striker during the upcoming transfer window to address this concern. Mikel Arteta has reportedly compiled a shortlist of potential targets, including Ivan Toney, Victor Osimhen, Joshua Zirkzee, and Viktor Gyokeres.

Toney, who recently resumed playing after an eight-month ban for breaching FA betting rules, has impressed with four goals in seven games for Brentford. Osimhen, despite Napoli’s recent struggles, has maintained a solid record with eight goals in 14 Serie A appearances. Zirkzee, currently with Bologna and formerly of Bayern Munich, possesses the physical attributes suited for the English game. Gyokeres, representing Sporting CP after joining from Coventry City, has demonstrated immediate impact with his impressive goal-scoring record.

Apart from strengthening their striking options, Arsenal may also seek reinforcements in midfield and on the wing. As they prepare for their upcoming match against Sheffield United on Monday night, Arsenal is keenly aware of the necessity to bolster their squad to remain competitive at the highest level.
