“after all I have done for man city-One of the hardest days of my career’ – Man City’s Ederson hits out after report he was ‘affected’ by praise for team-mate Stefan Ortega

Ederson was hauled out injured in City’s last Premier League game of the season against Tottenham, with his team leading 1-0. After replacing him, Ortega made a stunning stop to prevent Son Heung-min from equalising, allowing City to win the Premier League championship in the season’s last game against West Ham.

Ortega earned high accolades on the stop, and The Athletic said that Ederson was moved by the warm remarks sent at his backup. The 30-year-old’s desire to leave is claimed to be influenced by his mood, despite attention from Saudi Arabia, although he has denied the reports on social media.

What Ederson Said
He responded in an Instagram post: “I’d want to explain that the message published by The Athletic yesterday, pertaining to my supposed discontent with a coworker, is absolutely incorrect.

“The purported day described was, without a doubt, one of the most painful days of my career, as I sustained a fracture that prohibited me from playing in the season’s final stretch and, as a result, from representing my nation in the Copa América.

“At the time of the injury, my only thought was to continue in the match, defending City in the fight for the title we had won, but the emotion of the game would be greater than reality, and I would inevitably be unable to continue as I would have liked due to the damage it caused, completely blocking my field of vision.

“I am still focused on preparing for the season.”
