Manchester United News

A mocking statement made by David De Gea stated, “I will only come back to Manchester United if Erig ten Hag is sacked.” Misfortune for Eric Ten Hag in the midst of a prospective return for Manchester United.

Ten Hag is facing further scrutiny at United after supervising yet another humiliating defeat against Bournemouth on Saturday. Andoni Iraola’s team was unlucky not to win by more than 3-0, as Dominic Solanke, Philip Billing, and Marcos Senesi scored.

United appeared to be on the rise after Ten Hag was named Manager of the Month for November following three consecutive Premier League victories, which he followed up with a convincing 2-1 win against Chelsea in midweek. However, the mood has quickly soured following the defeat to the Cherries, and Murphy has asked club officials to make a decision.

“If United want to dine at English football’s top table again, Ten Hag is not the manager to take them there,” Murphy wrote in his Mail on Sunday column.

“United just cannot compete with City, Liverpool, or Arsenal with the players they have under Ten Hag. I don’t see a squad progressing after a successful first season. I see one that is regressing, and I can’t see how that will change with Ten Hag in charge.

“It is not entirely Ten Hag’s responsibility, of course. Many of United’s problems are above and beyond him. Some of the players need to look in the mirror.
