A Chelsea player who rejected Arsenal’s offer last summer is now seeking another opportunity to join Arteta’s team after encouragement from Pochettino to find a new club

According to reports from Fichajes, Arsenal is considering a surprise bid for Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk.

The Gunners had come close to signing the Ukrainian winger before he joined Chelsea in 2023.

Arsenal had been in advanced talks with Shakhtar Donetsk, but Chelsea stepped in and sealed the deal by agreeing to a large fee of around £88.5 million.

However, since his high-profile move to Stamford Bridge, the 23-year-old has struggled to adjust to English football, falling short of expectations. Mudryk has only scored four goals in 42 appearances with the Blues, failing to make the anticipated impression.

According to recent reports, Chelsea may be willing to trade Mudryk, potentially allowing Arsenal to revive their interest.

Fichajes has named the Gunners as the main competitors for Mudryk’s signature, along with Italian heavyweights Juventus.

Given Mudryk’s disappointing performance at Chelsea, and his current Transfermarkt worth of about £34 million, Chelsea may be obliged to absorb a hefty loss on their initial investment.

Chelsea faces an intriguing problem as they handle the complexity of player moves and financial considerations.

For Arsenal, buying Mudryk signifies a deviation from their regular transfer plan.

While the Gunners are definitely in need of reinforcements, particularly in wide areas, investing much in a player who has struggled to make an impact at a rival club may be regarded as a dangerous move by fans and commentators.

Furthermore, Arsenal’s need for squad depth goes beyond acquiring a single winger. With players like Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli on the roster, Mikel Arteta will want to expand his options across many positions to provide enough rotation and cover for the demands of a long season.
