Arsenal Gunners News

“The club has agreed Arsenal take it or leave it bid and he’ll sign 5-years deal today” : Transfer expert confirms Arsenal’s last-minute bid for the most dangerous attacker has been accepted, and the player will join today.

Arsenal has yet to make a formal bid for Real Sociedad’s prominent midfielder, as reported by the Spanish publication El Diario Vasco. The Gunners are in the market for a new midfielder this transfer window and have reportedly reached an agreement on personal terms with Mikel Merino. Although an official offer has not been made, it is anticipated shortly.

Merino, who has a release clause of £52 million, might be acquired for £26 million due to his contract’s final year. The 28-year-old midfielder could potentially join Arsenal in the coming days.

Arsenal’s summer transfer window has been relatively subdued so far, with only the acquisitions of David Raya and Riccardo Calafiori. Following their second consecutive runner-up finish in the Premier League, more transfer activity was expected. However, the recent sale of Emile Smith Rowe to Fulham has provided additional funds, which could be allocated towards Merino’s transfer.

Merino has shown a keen interest in joining Arsenal, and the club now needs to negotiate a suitable transfer fee for the Euro 2024 winner. He would be a valuable addition to the left-sided central midfield position, having led Europe’s top-five leagues in duels won during the 2023/24 season. Additionally, Merino demonstrated significant abilities in recoveries, tackling, and creativity, contributing eight goals and five assists in the previous term.

Arsenal will need to act swiftly, as Merino remains open to a potential move to Barcelona.
